Is there a way to track the location of a punch on a TimeClock?
Answer
Yes. By adding a Location Stamp to each of your clocks and using a Labor Code clock prompt set to Location Stamp one can have the location of the punch display on an employee's time card. This is done in two parts (If the Location Stamp has already been set up, skip number 1).

1. The assigning of your TimeClock's a location:

a. In TimeWorks (Classic), go to Administration > Verify Transmit, or in TimeWorks Plus (Glue) go to > Settings > Verify Transmit.
b. Click the serial number.
c. Next on the following page click on the link 'Change' next to the line listed as 'Location Stamp'.
d. Finally add a name in the box next to 'Location Stamp:' on the next screen and click the 'Save Changes' button.

Note: This needs to be accomplished for all TimeClock serial numbers listed on the 'Verify Clock Transmit' page that you want to track.

2. Creating the Clock Prompt:

a. Go to:

For TimeWorks - Accountant Menu > Clock Prompts and select the client name.
For TimeWorks Plus - Accountant Menu > Processing Rules > Search for "ClockPrompts" > Add Prompt

b. Select a free Labor Code Prompt either x, y, or z in TimeWorks Plus.
c. At the next screen in the drop down box next to 'Data Collection Mode: select 'Location Stamp'.
d. In the box next to 'What do you want to name this field?' name the prompt something appropriate like 'Location Stamp'.
e. All other options can be left at the default and skipped as this prompt will not be seen by anyone at the TimeClock itself and work automatically.
d. Click the 'Save' button to save your changes.

Note: You must then wait 10 minutes then have the client transmit all clocks so they can be updated with the new changes. Also this will only work on punches after the settings are made and are not retroactive on punches that have already been made before the prompt was configured.

Note: The location stamp is pulled off of the in punch then on the out punch it pulls the information off of the in punch and matches it up to have it display where the out punch was made. This becomes an issue if there is an unprocessed out punch as it cannot match up with the in punch to display the location. In this case the location stamp will not show on unprocessed out punches.
