FlexClock - Firmware and Software USB Upgrade
These instructions only apply to the FlexClock model Vx570.

To update or install the latest software AND firmware into the FlexClock using a Flash Drive follow the directions below:

**NOTE: IF YOU ARE JUST UPDATING THE SOFTWARE TO THE LATEST AND NOT THE FIRMWARE ALSO THEN USE THIS LINK FlexClock - Verifone Vx570 Doing JUST the Software Update Via USB

Things you will need:

- A PC/computerboth
- Verifone VX570 and power adapter both
- USB Flash Drive (Memory Stick) with at least 256MB of storage space.
- The update files from our Support Department. More on this below.

- Part 1 PC Procedure:

1. If you do not already have a copy of the upgrade files please submit a support ticket and we will be able to e-mail you the files required for this procedure.

2. Once you receive the .zip file there should be two different updates, both are in .zip files called by the same name (VERIFONE.ZIP) in two different folders (Update #1 and Update #2), as well as instructions in two README files, one in English and one in Spanish.

You can check the size of the different VERIFONE.ZIP files as a reference:

File #1 (Firmware): 579 KB approximately. VERIFONE.ZIP
File #2 (Software): 199 KB approximately. verifone.zip

Updates need to be installed on the USB one at a time starting with File #1 then File #2 next. There cannot be any other data on the USB drive or you may run into issues with the update.

**IF YOU USE SPECIFIC IP/ETHERNET SETTINGS PLEASE PRESS THE PURPLE KEY ON THE LEFT AND AND TYPE IN CONF (2663), PRESS MAINTAIN F2, AND IF THE IP OR ANY OTHER PARAMETER IS SET TO SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN 0.0.0.0 THEN WRITE DOWN THE SETTINGS AS YOU WILL NEED TO RE-APPLY THESE SETTINGS AFTER THE UPDATE.**

FlexClock Prep

What we want to do first is make sure all punches on the clock are transmitted as this process will wipe the clock of its memory to make the process of updating easier.

To clear the memory on the clock and prep it for the updates:

1. Press the F2 + F4 keys on the right side of the clock.
2. Enter the password 1 <ALPHA> <ALPHA> 66831 then the Green Enter Key.
3. Arrorw down using the purple key second from the left. till you get to the option 'MEMORY FUNCTIONS F2' from there press the F2 key on the right.
4. Press F4 next to 'CLEAR MEM'then the green Enter key.
5. Enter the password 1 <ALPHA> <ALPHA> 66831 then the Green Enter Key.
6. Then F4 next to 'CLEAR ALL GROUPS'and F4 'CONFIRM'
7. Next press the red Cancel button then arrow up (with the left most purple key) till it says 'RESTART' and click the Function button next to it (F4).

If this was done correctly you will get the message 'DOWNLOAD NEEDED *GO FILE NOT FOUND' and you should be able to start installing the (Software) update files.

== Firmware UPDATE #1 ===

The first one comes from VERIFONE directly.

To install it, go to the folder called 'Update #1 Verifone Firmware Update' and put the file called VERIFONE.ZIP on a USB flash drive.

Note: It MUST be called VERIFONE.ZIP on the flash memory for it to be read by the clock. Do not unzip the file or take the contents out. Just copy the entire ZIP file to the flash memory – the clock will unzip it by itself.

Next follow the prompts to install the files off of the USB stick.

When it is complete remove the USB as instructed then hit the green Enter key and it should reboot and give you again the message 'DOWNLOAD NEEDED *GO FILE NOT FOUND' and you should be able to start installing the next (Software) update files.

=== Software UPDATE #2 ===

Next look for the folder 'Update #2 FlexClock Software Update 757.2.101' Likewise it should have file in there called 'VERIFONE.ZIP' and must be put on a flash memory stick the same way.

You can use the same USB from Update #1, simply delete the first VERIFONE.ZIP file, or just drag and drop it onto the memory stick and when asked if you want to overwrite the file select yes.

Do not use a different folder or rename the second file to store both files at the same time. If you do this, the update won't succeed.

Next follow the prompts to install the files off of the USB stick.

When it is complete remove the USB as instructed then hit the green Enter key and it should reboot to install and complete the process.

Once it is done if you had certain internet settings like a static IP you will again have to enable Ethernet (Internet on the Clock) like in the instructions for the initial setup which can be found here #301#.

(**PLEASE CONFIRM LATEST FIRMWARE AND SOFTWARE WITH SUPPORT BEFORE USING THIS FILE**):

Currently Firmware version is 757.2.101 and should show in Verify Transmit if it is the latest.

**Also if you have a PrintReader attached you may have to restart the FlexClock once more to have it re-associate the PrintReader to the FlexClock. If it wasn't associated it will ask you to do a manual transmit to download the prints once again from the server.

**NOTE: Some terminals we’ve sold might have a password of “1”, “8086”, “8086 alpha” instead of 1 alpha alpha 66831.
