How To - Setting Up Clock Prompts
Clock Prompts are questions that the clock asks of the employee at the punch-in / punch-out time.
These prompts can be set to collect categorical labor data or numerical data which can be used for reporting.

Clock prompts are divided into 2 groups:

Numeric / Dollar Prompts (I, J, and K) such as calculation of tips, or mileage.

Labor Code Prompts (X, Y, and Z) which can have employee's clock into different jobs or departments they are laboring in.
Web Only (Labor) Prompts (available in TimeWorks Plus Only)

This basic guide will explain how to set up a clock prompt.

• Select your Client
• Click on “Accountant Menu”
• Under Settings for currently selected client, select “Clock Prompts”
• You will now be on the Clock Prompts screen. You will see a list of currently active prompts and the ability to add new one.
You can edit prompts by clicking the Blue Prompt Definition in the left column of the table or add a new one by clicking the Add Prompt button.
• Use prompts I, J or K for numeric based prompts such as tips, miles, etc.
• Use prompts X, Y, or Z for labor code based prompts such as department, job code, etc.
• Use web only prompts for populating information on a time card via a script and also to leave the physical clock prompts available if needed.

Once editing a prompt, hovering over the bold blue title for each field will give an explanation for the field use.
