I have a client that has 24 hour shifts. Can your service accomodate this?
Answer
Absolutely! By default, our service allows an 18 hr. period, in which if an employee does NOT clock out, a 'Missing' punch will be associated to the initial 'In' punch. This behavior lends itself to the rationale that if an employee 'forgets' to clock out for whatever reason, and then comes in 40 hours later and clocks out, that the employee won't be paid for those 40 hours should it slip an administrator's supervision.

However, in the case of a company with longer shifts, an option exists to change the default amount of hours our service will consider before associated a missing punch to a 'forgotten' In punch. Here's how to change that default:

In TimeWorks:

1. Click on the Accountant Menu
2. Click on Miscellaneous Settings
3. Scroll down to the PunchJoinSpan option
4. Set this option to the maximum number of hours considered a shift by the client
5. Click "Save" at the bottom of the screen.

In TimeWorks Plus:

1. Click on the Accountant Menu
2. Click on Processing Rules
3. Type "PunchJoinSpan" (minus quotes) into the search box and hit "Search".
4. Click on the "PunchJoinSpan" link that populates below.
5. Enter the maximum number of hours considered a shift by the client.
6. Click "Save".

* Keep in mind that this option really should only be changed if the client specifically requests it. Changing this option when a greater than 18 hr. shift is not needed, can open up the client to abuse from employees forgetting to clock out, etc.
