Clocks - Restricting Employees from Clocking IN at the Clock
We have received requests in the past about physically not allowing employees to clock IN on our Time Devices before predefined start times.

This would be to combat having to pay employees or record employee worked time before they are actually allowed to work. Allowing for this could also raise concerns of having employees go into and having to pay for unnecessary overtime.

Currently none of our clocks can restrict employees from clocking IN based on things like a start time either by default or based on the employees schedule.

Some options for you to consider (**Please note that before implementing any of the below procedures you will want to review the clients applicable Labor Laws to see if any of the processes are possible where the client is located**):

1. Round Employee Start Times - Using rules and scripting we can round employee start times to predefined times. For example if employees are not allowed to clock IN before 6:00am we can make any punch before this time round up to that 6:00am start time. More on rounding can be found here Scripting - Rounding to a Specific Time.

We can also round based on a predefined employee schedule in Employee Setup or using the Scheduling feature:

TimeWorks - Scripting - Rounding Times to a Set Schedule ("Roundtoschedule")

TimeWorks Plus - TimeWorks Plus: "RoundToSchedule" and "RoundToScheduleN" Processing Rules

2. Flag an Unauthorized IN Punch - Another option is to flag an unauthorized IN punch if they do clock IN before they should be allowed to. This can be done through scripting based on a predefined time. You can contact Support on ways to accomplish this via a Support ticket.

3. Unpay Employees - Using scripting we can also segment off unauthorized times and if an employee clocks IN at unauthorized times we can either unpay those hours or in the case of a TimeWorks client set the pay rate to 0.00. You can contact Support on ways to accomplish this via a Support ticket also.

4. Restrict Access to Time Devices - Finally the client may want to have the time device(s) in a secure and monitored location like within a locked facility or a secure office within the work place so that physical access to the time device would not be possible until the allowed time.
